SNARE OF THE SOUL / shut the trap
yes! shut the trap called lips when you need to, or it becomes a snare to your soul.
prov 18: 7b
A fool's mouth is his destruction,
And his lips are the snare of his soul.
Psalm 34:12-13
What man is he that desireth life,
And loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil,
And thy lips from speaking guile.
NB: there is a trap against your soul and it comes from your LIPS.
who would have thought that the littlelest part of the body could become a snare/trap against the whole body?
there's an answer to the question and concerns of how not to fall into this trap
KEEP IT CLOSED.
A MOUTH YOU DON'T CLOSE WHEN YOU NEED TO, IS THE ONE THAT ENSNARES YOU.
every trap is always open ::: in openness lies the power of the trap.
but when closed, it loses its effect.
Hence, your lips should remain constantly sealed when not needed, to avoid it becoming a snare to you.
rather, use it for more purposeful ventures.
eg
BY SPEAKING LIFE, SPEAKING POSITIVELY AND PURPOSEFULLY
because,
1. death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21
2. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Deuteronomy 30:19
Otherwise, SHUT THE TRAP, you call mouth and save your destiny.
if that lips must be open to say anything meaningful, then God must be in charge, else you ensnare yourself. yes every time you do it yourself, you are ensnared.
Psalm 140:3
They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; Adders' poison is under their LIPS
but the word teaches us that when God opens our mouths, whatever comes out of it then will no longer be a trap.
Psalm 141:3
Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth;
Keep the door of my LIPS
see what your MOUTH/TONGUE must do when your lips are parted
1) SHOW FORTH GOD'S PRAISE
Psalm 51:15
O Lord, open thou my lips;
And my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
2). SPEAKING OF GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS AND PRAISE
Psalm 35:28
And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness
And of thy praise all the day long.
3). PRAISE GOD ENDLESSLY
PSALM 63:5
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
WHAT YOUR LIPS IS CAPABLE OF DOING WHEN WRONGLY USED
1). It can condemn you: Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: Yea, thine own lips testify against thee. Job 15:6
2). It cuts you off: The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaketh proud things: Psalm 12:3
3). It silences you: Let the lying lips be put to silence; Which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. Psalm 31:18.
